What the woman allegedly did is disgusting and should be condemned. However, beating her is also wrong. Assaulting someone, regardless of the accusation, is not justice. The proper thing would have been to hand her over to the police and allow the relevant authorities to investigate. Given her explanation, there may also be a need for a mental health assessment before any further action is taken. People should be held accountable for their actions, but mob justice is never the answer.

I think Nigerians generally haven’t been proactive enough in demanding accountability on insecurity. Many people only become vocal when the violence reaches their region or affects them directly. Terrorism and banditry should have been confronted as a national emergency from day one

I don’t know enough about the regulations, but if foreign tourists are coming in specifically for hunting, there should definitely be some level of monitoring and accountability. And also, conservation and hunting need to be balanced. Without proper regulation, the long term impact on wildlife could be serious. Annoying thing is that our government doesn’t care at all. Some of these agencies are just useless

Many Nigerian hunters are just decimating our wildlife without caution. To make matters worse, they upload the videos and people hail them. Now, they have introduced a new level of madness. They invite Europeans and Americans tourists to go on hunting expeditions with them. The questions remain 1. Are these huntings carried out in public or private properties 2. Does the government know that these people are coming into the country for reckless and undocumented trophy hunting?
