Whenever I visit relatives for holidays Im amazed at how good their memories of past events are. I've moved and lived in more places then then. People who don't move around a lot have better and more intense recollection of memories. When you move to new places you leave your memories behind in the old place. You just don't think about it much because you're in a new location. But if you never move. You live with your memories everyday. there's a place-memory connection that humans have.
