@kashiokyoiku@sbrandmusic@bennjordan But it's not even that deep, it's a matter of spec'ing out a PC so it makes sense for audio without being silly expensive. It's really hard to navigate and you do often see people ending up with gaming rigs when they coulda better spent 1-2k elsewhere.
@sbrandmusic@bennjordan This is a good point, everyone is making a different genre of music, using a different daw with different plug ins, there is no way therefore to test every possible configuration/combination and market it to a single demographic.
@mikekasprzak@bennjordan There have been efforts towards this but it seems to be extremely inefficient. You get a couple of companies that sell dsp solutions like UAD, and also LAN node stuff, and that definitely helps.
@naught101@bennjordan@pete_davey This is almost doesnt matter because we're using technology mostly meant for other purposes vs being able to say go to GPU directly. The infrastructure of a modern pc seems to kinda fight audio efficiency, we've just had to wait for cpu headroom.
@bennjordan@pete_davey I've never been sure of the maths of this.
Audio sample rates are way higher (48-96khz vs 60hz), but the bit depth is much lower (a few bytes per sample, vs kb-mb per frame). Also the computations are more complex for graphics (trig, etc)? But latency is less of a problem..
@sk33mask It slaps better then a lot of 95 techno, too :) And ahhh most things he's done since... Green velvet also used to be way more interesting and raw. I'm ok with techno these days, its easier to find things along those lines then it has been for a bit at least.
Returning to an indoor environment like a nightclub can feel intense at first. Don't feel bad or uncool about wearing a mask this weekend. If it makes you feel safer + more comfortable, just do it. No-one is judging, if it feels right then you are right 🏆
If we change "that's what she said.." to "that's what I said last night..." and use it in self deprecating context, the world would be a better, not to mention funnier, place.
This is still super cool. Presently I've got a great groove going from a single breakbeat and a few AirWindows plugs just by unlinking and messing around a bit.

I think there's a general misconception around "getting" management. IME if you're doing anything remotely right and have something that capable PR people can actually sell, and don't keep yourself totally invisible, they will come to you. IMO a more organic and smarter strategy.
@KhyamAllami Look for an assistant that's willing to grow/build a project with you and you can offer something of value to, other then (just) money. I've had some success with younger crews, straight out of uni or so, but they will usually want to do their own thing so its a balance.
Out of curiosity: how many of my fellow creatives out here are similarly overwhelmed with admin but don't feel they earn enough to be able to hire an assistant or find decent management?
