Sitting on a 16% barrel, I am not concerned. Issue would only be if he had last year’s barrel rate and this year’s swinging strike, which he doesn’t. I think there might be some BvP signal (or at least lean) if you’re modeling out swing characteristics in 3D space and connecting it back to anticipated pitcher approach (ie, this guys swing has a better window to cover these shapes). But nobody is doing that publicly lol

I still feel like pitcher vs batter analysis matter but unsure how much and how to use it

How in 2025 did Nico Hoerner finish 2nd in batting average but 23rd in OBP in the national league?
If not drawing walks is your answer please provide his whiff% and provide his contact percentage on swings he made in 2025 and where it ranks amongst NL hitters.

As I read the comments, I’d like to remind people that those who are more analytically inclined don’t dislike bunting for hits, nor do they dislike squeeze bunts, nor do they dislike *all* sac bunts.
All three of these were reasonable process-based bunts in this situation.
