i ran into a guy last night at the torc event saying i edited his resume as a junior developer 12 years ago and he wouldnt be at where he is today without me ripping apart his resume bc of the doors it opened. words like that mean everything to me.

Finished my PM class & used the gap to build something personal. A site preserving my grandmother’s baking. Zero cost. Zero maintenance. Built to run forever. Cloudflare Pages + D1 + R2 React Router v7 + TypeScript Magic link auth I like building things that outlive me.

@dhh Were you able to get Linux to work with Apple's proprietary hardware? I have not found a good solution for the Bluetooth or camera yet, aside from getting a ThinkPad.

I really haven't thanked Apple enough for leading me to Linux. I mean that with zero irony and zero shade. This has been one of the top five quests of my career. And I'd never had pursued it if they hadn't turned into The Navy. Thank you, Captain Cook! 🙏

@BraydonCoyer I started feeling cognitively slower. It got to the point where I would feel nauseous with less than 6 hrs of sleep, 7 hrs is my minimum now. I still wouldn't trade it for anything. I no longer say, I'll sleep when I'm dead.

@devsixstrings Yeah, I live off of Monters right now. I can do 2-4hrs of sleep in small sprints, but I’m starting to feel (and see) the effect of an average of 4/5hrs per night for the last 5 years.

And it's completely worth it. ❤️ Just give me a few 30 minute power naps throughout the week.

@BraydonCoyer I don't think I could survive today with 3 - 4 hours of sleep again. I was buying monsters by the case back then. Looking back at my old sleep records, I'll be amazed if I want a walking zombie.

When you're freelancing, it's not just about the solution. You have to clearly show the business value. How does it solve a need they might not even realize exists, and how does it benefit both the company and its customers?

@chrisklumph @DThompsonDev I love OneNote, and that it works across all your devices. I've tried a lot of different apps, and keep coming back to old reliable OneNote.

@DThompsonDev OneNote. The way it organizes things just clicks with me, but everyone is different. They have a Mac version too that is still full-featured.

I need recommendations. What are you using as a note taking app? I've tried Notion and it just didn't work for me. I get the appeal for some but it never clicked for me. For whatever reason I always end up defaulting back to Google docs & there just has to be a better solution.
