Never thought I’d ever see the day the EU parliament chanted “Send them back”. Europe has reached a clear turning point on migration. Public frustration with illegal immigration and failed deportations has now translated into decisive political action.
The DA has no plan to deal with the current immigration crisis. In fact, Cape Town has lots of undocumented migrants who work there. The George accident exposed this a while ago.

Home Affairs Minister Leon Schreiber says the department is overstretched, with only 832 inspectors handling over 40,000 cases since January. He says they rely on SAPS and Labour as support, while cases like the 7,000 Malawians in Durban show how intensive verification work is. He adds that Home Affairs is still partly paper-based but is looking to use technology to improve efficiency.
