Throughout the past period, these esteemed members, under the leadership of Senator Graham, have been among the most prominent advocates for the rights of our people and our forces. They have maintained constant contact with us, hearing our calls and engaging with the evolving situation on the ground. They have played a crucial role in supporting our cause and have provided tangible support through several initiatives and bills, including “Save The Kurds Act,” a significant step that we cherished. We extend our sincere gratitude to all of them for their steadfast support of regional stability and their provision of invaluable assistance to Syria and its people during this pivotal moment. These esteemed members have and continue to serve as pivotal partners in the promotion of justice and freedom for our People.

Der israelische Botschafter in Deutschland, Ron Prosor, betonte bei seinem Besuch der Selbstverwaltung von Nord- und Ostsyrien in Berlin die besondere Verbundenheit zwischen Minderheiten im Nahen Osten. Er erinnerte daran, dass die Kurden an vorderster Front gegen den IS kämpften und weiterhin kämpfen, und forderte Europa sowie die internationale Gemeinschaft auf, nicht zu schweigen. Das Problem ist allerdings, dass Scharaas bisherige Laufbahn die eines dschihadistischen Warlords war, angefangen beim IS in Syrien, aufgehört mit al-Qaida. Seine Agenda ist islamistisch, im Sinne eines arabisch-islamistischen Nationalismus – von Demokratie hat er bislang nicht gesprochen. Seine Armee, ein Zusammenschluss dschihadistischer Milizen, hat bereits gezeigt, wie sie im neuen Staat mit Minderheiten umgehen wird. Es gab Massaker an Drusen und Alawiten, jetzt werden Kurden vertrieben und ermordet. Al-Scharaa will die absolute Macht im Staat und darin hat er die Unterstützung der sunnitischen Araber, die die Opposition gegen Assad angeführt haben. Die Kurden sollen ihre Waffen abgegeben, was sie verständlicherweise verweigern. Sie wissen aus ihrer langen leidvollen Geschichte, dass sie letzten Endes darauf angewiesen sind, sich verteidigen zu können. Unterstützung haben sie immer nur erhalten, wenn es anderen genützt hat. Beim Kampf gegen den IS waren sie die geschätzten Verbündeten der USA, jetzt sind sie, so die US-Regierung, nicht mehr von Nutzen. Verraten zu werden und ausgeliefert zu sein, kennen die Kurden nur zu gut. Jetzt wiederholt sich das kurdische Drama. Diejenigen Politiker, für die Menschenrechte nicht nur eine Worthülse sind, müssen sich jetzt dafür einsetzen, dass die Kurden nicht erneut zum Opfer von Massakern werden.
