I am offended by Trump. But I’m even more offended by the Christians who support him. He just called an entire group of people garbage. And that is an insult to God. Every person from Somalia is a precious child of God, made in the image of God. God does not make trash. No human being is garbage. Rebuke it - in the name of Jesus.

One cannot love God without extending one’s love to the poor. Love for our neighbor is tangible proof of the authenticity of our love for God. The Lord himself teaches us: “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me” (Mt 25:40). #DilexiTe

Jesus lived in a society whose survival depended on weather and growing seasons. Yet he said: Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Seek first God’s kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things (what you eat, drink, wear) will be given to you.

Well, darn. I was trying to put my husky to bed when she kangaroo-kicked me in the eye and scratched my retina. Kicked by a dog with the zoomies is so boring though. If I get a black eye or need an eye patch, what should my story be?

@edstetzer I have not or heard a sermon on it. Sometimes, I think of the positive side, that denominations are like human personalities. Each one expresses and emphasizes something a bit differently than the others. Together, we represent all that God has for us to be.

Just started “Intercultural Ministry” edited by @Gracejisunkim and Jann Aldredge-Clanton. It’s going to be good! “The more interracial and intercultural a congregation can become, the more possibility there is of building the reign of God here on earth.”

@daretomultiply For those of us in the West, rather than asking why (and linger on something or someone to blame), we could ask: “what’s next?” “what would Jesus do?” “what DID Jesus do?” Then do that.

Growing up we were taught to ask WWJD… What Would Jesus Do? Sure, it got a little cliche and commercialized… but it is still the right question. I pray that every Christian in America and around the world would ask that right now — What would Jesus do? Who would Jesus starve? Who would Jesus bomb? Who would Jesus turn away? Let Gaza live. Stop starving children. End the siege. Stop the raids. Abolish ICE. Have compassion. Feed the hungry. Care for the sick. Welcome the stranger. That’s what Jesus would do.

There’s an amazing contrast found between Genesis 11 (Tower of Babel) and Genesis 12 (The Call of Abraham). In short, there are two ways of living: 1. Creating our own story and trying to build our own name. 2. Finding ourselves in God’s story and letting God name us.
