@dyoburon @Lewis_Bollard That's what you tell yourself in order to cause them suffering with no guilt. They can feel and they can suffer. And they aren't as dumb as you think. You should do a little more research on what chickens are like.

The 'eat less red meat' advice may have done more harm to animals than any other nutrition recommendation. Fifty years ago, Americans ate 95 pounds of beef and 40 pounds of chicken annually. Then doctors started telling people to replace red meat with white meat. Americans complied: today we eat 37% less beef — and 165% more chicken. US slaughterhouses now kill 15 million fewer cattle each year — and over 5 billion more chickens. (Population growth only explains a third of that increase.) And the chickens have it much worse. US beef cattle spend 70–85% of their lives out on the range. Almost all chickens spend their entire lives atop a pile of manure in a dimly-lit factory farm.
