There are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks when it seems like it's been decades since the last #screenshotsaturday, but we all know Saturdays are 1 week apart.

@cranberryclock @Jonathan_Blow I think one of most important shifts we’re in need of is ownership of our data, and trust of other peoples. Perhaps an open source OS that helps with that is on the cards? Anyone? I’d buy that.

@Jonathan_Blow Can a new OS thrive? Not a variant, but could an economy and ecosystem emerge to encompass computing history, or would the new system be an isolated market, requiring vast changes to avoid being a mere parallel?

The people who would historically be excited about a new operating system can't do that any more, because everyone is too helpless to even conceive of a new OS. So they have to get excited about a mildly different arrangement of bloatware from That OS From 35 Years Ago. But as long as you give it a Cool Name, everything is good.

@cranberryclock @Jonathan_Blow There would need to a paradigm shift to warrant the effort and energy for new a OS, and anyone trying would be racing the tech giants in the process.

@clarered My hardest vote ever. Even at the stand I stood there for 5 minutes. Thangam is such an amazing human, and we need Green’s voice in the mix, was a hard choice.

Looks like Greens have won Bristol Central. I’m delighted that Bristol will send a progressive voice to parliament on many issues that matter to me. And Thangam would have made a bloody amazing culture secretary.

@PeteEtchells I keep trying to find a better way of discussing 'screen time', as it assume (and with book, assume will know more?) that the bundling of the various effects of 'screen' is too blunt a scope to be useful.
