Does anyone have references for (conditional) independence testing with dependent samples? It proved to be surprisingly difficult to do a literature search on this. Surely, this must have been studied under some specific notions of dependence. Any pointers are greatly appreciated

This @TheWebConf paper finds that the impact of intergroup interactions on religious polarization in India is heterogeneous across events and religious groups. Reading it, I wondered if a DiD methodology would suffice (and allow more sanity checks). dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/35…
