A government agency shouldn’t promote religious messages—period. When officials invoke scripture, they exclude millions who don’t share those beliefs. Government must serve everyone equally, not endorse religion. Patriotism doesn’t require piety.

Invoking “divine providence” to justify tens of thousands of military strikes isn’t faith, it’s propaganda. War isn’t miraculous, it’s deadly and human. Government officials should answer to the Constitution, not claim God is endorsing their violence.

One thing I’m very passionate about is the separation of Church and State. Pete Hegseth has said our service members are fighting #Iran “in the name of Jesus Christ.” Religion is important to many Americans, but America was not founded on one religion. With this Secretary of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security posting Bible verses, the Trump administration is trying to make America look like the exclusionary extremists we claim to be against.
