No Hamish. I’m not getting “it” if by “it” you’re trying to imply that anywhere near a majority of Jews and Israelis think like these assholes in their government. They don’t.
(Unlike the Islamists in Palestine and in the Iranian Regime, the majority of whom DO think like this.)
As for us? Nuanced thinking in Australia is in the toilet.
And we will suffer for it long term if we don’t stop it and do better in identifying the REAL threats to our nation. Clue: it’s not the Christian European Right people. And it’s not the Jews either.

David Shoebridge is a low IQ child like McKim, Faruqi, WatsonBrown, and all the other ridiculous members of the Greens.
But on this he is absolutely right for the first time in his life. How vile is Ben Gvir? Who “celebrates” the death penalty with champagne? What sort of immoral human scum does that? And what sort of political and strategic imbecile does it - the worst possible “own goal”. Fool.
All decent Israelis and Jews will be appalled by this. As are those of us with decency who sympathise with Israel. The death penalty is sometimes a necessary evil. Something to regrettably support in the most extreme cases. Not something any decent human opens bottles of champagne to celebrate. This is sick and perverse and almost as bad as the Mullahs. Revolting.

Israel just passed a law mandating death by hanging for Palestinians in rigged military trials voting 62-48 in the Knesset. Netanyahu turned up in person to vote yes. Ben-Gvir wore a metal noose pin on his lapel while the chamber erupted in cheers at the prospect of more killing.

@JenJenJennywren @strangerous10 I'm Australian you dumbass. I have Oz in my name. But you need to learn to read. Re read the first sentence.
English

Hillel Newman has justified Israel’s new laws applying the death penalty only to Palestinians, saying it’s because Palestinians are “deranged” & “the usual punishment is no deterrent” — Horrifying the broadcast is allowed to go on. This man is sick. #auspol

@colone1flanders @SamuelBeaks @JonahDispatch You must be absolutely gutted. Ukraine copping a pasting
English

There were many people who were very confident that Russia would make mincemeat of Ukraine either rapidly or eventually. Those who said “rapidly” were proven wrong long ago, in some cases embarrassingly. But now events are coming for the “eventually” crowd too. And I hope the embarrassment is even more acute.
English

@fiveways65 @JonahDispatch Well done, comrade! You may collect your potato.

⚠️ Update: #Iran's digital blackout has entered its 27th day after 624 hours of isolation from the global internet with connectivity levels at ~1%. Rights monitors, independent media and the public are sidelined as access is granted only to those on a state-approved whitelist.

@Amiran_Zizovi @MiriamBarkus1 So why do you dehumanise Palestinians? Why do you treat them so badly? The world has seen what you’ve done and nobody will forget
English

@MiriamBarkus1 Spot on. Survivors, not victims. And we know who we're fighting.
English

Whenever I see these fences at Auschwitz-Birkenau, I don’t just see a museum. I see the exact reason why we fight today. 😥✡️
Those electric wires weren't just meant to keep people in - they were built to strip away every ounce of human dignity. They were built on the idea that Jewish blood is cheap and that we’d always be the victims, waiting for a miracle that usually never came.
The world loves a quiet, suffering Jew. They love us in the history books and the black-and-white photos. But we’re done playing that part.
Today, while we’re dealing with Iran, Hezbollah, and the daily grind in Judea and Samaria, we aren't fighting for "politics." We’re fighting so that the only fence surrounding a Jewish child is the border of the State of Israel, guarded by the strongest army on earth.
We don't want your sympathy anymore. We want peace, but we know it only comes through power. We remember the silence of those camps every single time we pull a trigger or intercept a rocket.
We are the miracle now. And we aren't going anywhere.
Never Again isn't a slogan. It’s a promise we keep every single day. 🇮🇱

@TheOtherChrisN @JonahDispatch No, not a chance. They’ve already lost
English

@SamuelBeaks @JonahDispatch Go see all the graffiti in eastern Ukraine written in English. UK, US, Polish mercs are everywhere
English

@fiveways65 @JonahDispatch Vastly more foreigners have died fighting for Russia than Ukraine.
English

The problem is the government, you retard, not your fellow Aussies. The government want you pointing fingers and blaming others rather than them. Our fuel security has been neglected by the uniparty for decades despite warnings.
People filling jerrys and getting ready have foresight and agency. I bet you hate that.
Did you learn anything through COVID?
English

@colorblindk1d @JonahDispatch If Russia didn’t care about casualties it would have ended war two years ago. US and Eu have shovelled weapons, money and mercenaries into Ukraine non stop
English

@JonahDispatch It is still a brutal war of attrition and Russia does not care about casualties. Only a direct intervention from the EU or US with air and ground support can get all the territory back. The war was "lost" in the first month as Biden and the EU dithered.
English

@thoip772 @FurkanGozukara Nope, Israeli jets still hit Iranian targets to this day. They also hit Lebanese Hezbollah targets, but they still hit designated targets in Iran.
English

@grAntlerMensch We stumbled across Roman ruins years ago inland on the Med coast of Turkey… all of a sudden, there they were in the middle of nowhere, no fences, no signs, no people. Quite extensive too. Wonderful
English

It’s really remarkable. I don’t recall this level of dismissive anti-patriotism regarding our armed forces at any time in my life. Our pilots and crews are risking it all every day and delivering stunning results, and here at home the neighbors are whining about paying a dollar more for gas.
English

From Bret Stephens in today's NY Times: "if past generations could see how well this war has gone compared with the ones they were compelled to fight at a frightening cost, they would marvel at their posterity’s comparative good fortune. They would marvel, too, at our inability to appreciate the advantages we now possess."
English

@DavidOsmond8 @lesstenny We also need 12 yr olds not to be riding e bikes at 40kmh on footpaths and roads. They’re a menace. If an older person gets hit and badly hurt, no insurance, no comeback. QLD has it right, fine the parents heavily. The kids are oftener smart arse shits too. I was one of them
English

@fiveways65 @lesstenny We need a better network of bike/scooter paths and safer suburban streets so that we can reduce conflict between pedestrians and bikes/scooters.
English

@plebcapital Nurse and a tradie in SE QLD and only earning 200k combined? Clearly earning quite a bit less than their peers, they should focus on what they need to do to secure better jobs.
