Acki Nacki makes sure everyone can participate without a need to run expensive server hardware, dramatically increasing network security and decentralization. Mobile Verifiers participate in the protocol by validating transactions in subtrees of accounts (occasionally), and compete in an online game, which involves earning Boosts, to secure a place in the Mobile Verifiers list that determines the fraction of block rewards.
