i trained Llama 2 on a $5 computer with less processing power than a thermostat. it’s called 🥧 PiTorch: an ML library for Raspberry Pi Zeros. i cover how to make it from scratch, from writing assembly GPU kernels to sending bytes over wires. (no hardware background needed!)

something i love about engineering/physics/CS culture is that almost every intellectual resource is available for free. there's a real presumption of non-gatekeeping that is, in my experience, not present in other fields

April 9, 2010: Charles Okafor was killed by men of the Nigerian Police while watching football at a viewing centre in Ajegunle, Lagos, simply because he refused to let the officers take his money. 16 years later, this has been swept under the carpet. Will he ever get justice?

Are you starting out in embedded systems? Starting with Arduino? Just got your kit? Let me shorten the path for you After you’ve gotten comfortable with C/C++ (I’ll assume you have 😗), start working with these: 1️⃣ LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) This is the most basic project you can do Think of it like your “Hello World!” (LED Blink) But don’t stop there: • Work with multiple LEDs • Build simple projects (traffic lights, night lamp, Christmas lights) This is where you understand control 2️⃣ Servo Motor Servos move between 0° and 180° This is where things start getting interesting You’ll begin to understand: • How motion works • Why voltage/current ratings matter • How poor power supply affects performance If you go further (robotic arms, legged robots), this becomes very real 3️⃣ Sensors & Components Now your system can sense Work with: • Potentiometer • DHT11 • Ultrasonic sensor • Photoresistor (LDR) • Flame sensor • IR sensor • PIR sensor Here’s what you’ll learn: • Analog vs digital • Different sensor states • How data is read and interpreted • How hardware + math connect If you go deeper, you’ll even use functions like map() 4️⃣ Motors DC motors. Stepper motors. Now you’re combining everything: Input (sensors) + Output (movement) This is where systems start to feel real After this, don’t stay comfortable Work on more projects, get the hang of things, then move to the heavy-duty stuff But be careful Things might burn Something might blow In my boss' words, that's how you know you're growing Please, don’t call my name if that happens 😂 But in all, that’s part of the process You’ve got this 👑

Hi guys, I built an open-source alternative to @pewbeam_ai in one week. github.com/openbezal/rhema Started coding during a Sunday church service. By the following Sunday, we were using it live during our church service. Wild. Here's what Rhema does: it listens to your pastor's sermon in real-time, detects Bible verse references as they're mentioned, and displays them on screen instantly. No manual clicking, no dedicated slide operator needed. The tech stack: - Tauri 2.0 with a Rust backend handling all the heavy lifting: audio capture, transcription pipeline, verse detection logic, and system tray integration - Local AI embeddings using Qwen3-0.6B so everything runs on-device with zero cloud dependency. Your sermons never leave your machine - Real-time audio transcription paired with semantic search against a full Bible verse database The Rust backend was a deliberate choice. We needed low latency audio processing and efficient memory usage for running an embedding model locally, and Rust delivers on both. Is it perfect? Probably not. But the core functionality works and we're already using it in a real church environment This is where you come in. Rhema is fully open source and we need contributors to help take it to the next level. Whether it's improving the verse detection accuracy, adding multi-language support, building a better overlay UI, adding support for more Bible translations, or optimizing the transcription pipeline, there's real work to be done and real impact to be made. If you're a Rust developer, a frontend engineer, an ML enthusiast, or just someone who loves building tools for the church, come build with us. Star the repo. Fork it. Open a PR. Let's make this the go-to open-source solution for live Bible verse display in churches worldwide. github.com/openbezal/rhema

A man in my town got robbed once His friends and family members came to console him, he told them he was okay as long as he wasn’t hurt. That was when he explained that he had hidden inside the ceiling in the store. Showed them exactly how he was able to camouflage himself to avoid being seen. Less than two weeks later, the robbers came back. They went straight to that ceiling, dragged him out and butchered him. Apparently they weren’t just robbers but assassins.
