@sarajcox I gave my daughter a card to post & a £10 note to get a couple of things from the corner shop. She went to the postbox first, then to the shop - got to the till & realised she didn’t have the £10 note. She was so upset when she got home but at least she’d made a postie happy!

Can you remember your/your kids first solo expedition? To the corner shop? The post box? On an errand to your nan’s? When you were allowed to go ALL BY YOURSELF for the 1st time ? Did it go without a hiccup? Or was there confusion, drama or a slight mishap? All the memories pls!

@bykatewomersley I look at that photo and think - I hope she feels warm enough (she’s quite uncovered) and she doesn’t look like she has anyone caring for her (the clinicians rightly focussed on the procedure) - I hope the person taking the photo is a loved one who is with her.

Happy International Day of the Midwife from these two who are a lot less cute these days! I don’t do much ‘proper’ midwifing anymore but I will always be proud to be a midwife and in awe of the wonderful women I support and work with. #IDM2023 #NHS

@RoshanaMN I think sometimes sharing is hard because you then have to deal with other people’s reactions &feelings as well as your own which, in the middle of grief &loss can be another burden. Your sharing is helpful to many &I hope has also been helpful for you. I’m so sorry for your loss

Had quite a few comments saying I’m brave for sharing about my miscarriage Is it something shameful? Something we shouldn’t be sharing? Trying to understand if I’m abnormal in not feeling shame and if others feel it or is it something else I’m missing?

@KitzingerCelia My mother also credits your mother for helping her understand how best to birth her babies - her stories of positive births inspired me and I am now a midwife. And I was born in Taunton too 😊 She was a remarkable woman.

Today would have been my mother's 94th birthday This week I was in Taunton, where she was born, giving a talk on advance care planning at an NHS Somerset Training Event In the break, someone told me how inspirational my mother was, empowering her to have 4 wonderful births.
