Only Nigerians can save Nigeria at this point
No foreign aid, no IMF bailout, no diaspora remittances will fix us if we refuse to fix ourselves. The politicians we keep recycling are not the problem, they are the mirror. For decades they have looted budgets, inflated contracts and turned governance into a family business while the rest of us clap and queue for crumbs
But they are not alone. Crooked civil and public servants those who demand “something for the files” who sell appointments, divert hospital drugs and ghost their desks have turned public service into private enterprise. Ministries that should build roads now build mansions. Universities that should produce thinkers now produce certificates for sale
Worst of all are the self-centered Nigerians: the trader who bribes to evade tax, the voter who sells his PVC for ₦5,000, the “big man” who blocks traffic with sirens, the youth who prefers “hustle” over holding leaders accountable. We curse the system by day and feed it by night
Enough. Nigeria will not rise by miracle. It will rise when we stop excusing corruption as “smartness” when we choose competence over tribe, when we demand receipts instead of prayers. The power is not in Aso Rock; it is in our hands, our votes, our voices and our refusal to be silent any longer
Only Nigerians can save Nigeria. The question is: will we?
