@metrotrains Not convinced - meanwhile we suffer night ‘consolation prize’ buses and weekends without any trains. Hardly fair when we need to do things in the city and it adds an extra 30 minutes on a trip home and having to change at Newport under all weather conditions and the dark.

@metrotrains @metrotrains I understand testing new equipment. Why the Werribee line when these new trains will only run on Sunbury/metro tunnel/Cranbourne line? And why 4 months of disruption to Werribee service?

Hi, Mark. We’re testing Melbourne’s new trains. They are undergoing a rigorous testing program to ensure the safety of passengers and reliability of this new fleet. During testing, buses will replace trains at night on parts of the Werribee Line throughout 2025. These new trains will help us retire our longest-serving fleets and create a more efficient, accessible and reliable network.

@metrotrains Thanks @metrotrains for removing evening/night Werribee line trains for ~2 months to test trains for the new @metrotunnelvic. Important, but please test them on Sunbury/Frankston lines where they will actually run.

MALAPHORS are the comical mash-ups of two idioms. Such as: “We’ll burn that bridge when we get there.” “It’s not rocket surgery.” “You hit the nail right between the eyes.” “The road to hell wasn’t built in a day.” “When the rubber hits the fan.”

English has no word meaning to summon a sound from memory. Or a taste, a touch, a smell. Only sight has that privilege with “visualise”, or “picture”. Suggestions welcome. #wordquery

@dontattempt Most commonly used interchangeably, and probably contextual. For me I would use foreshorten if it was ahead of time (you’re not already on holidays) and shorten if I was already there and have to leave early (but opinion only).

#WordQuery - We had to shorten (foreshorten?) our camping holiday due to bad weather. (Is there a difference between those two possible verbs. If so, what?)

Ah the wisdom of the @ptv_official and #majorprojectsvic short run the lovely 220 bus and force commuters onto packed rail replacement buses. A hike to VIC market but worth it.
