Rarely playing games anymore isn’t only due to a lack of time but also that the art is dead. No one cares to create beautiful stories anymore. The Witcher 3, Telltale’s TWD, Red Dead Redemption 2, Life is Strange, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and more—all products of peak fiction.

@syntakhs Yeah the pixels are nice but the issue is they don’t contribute to the overall story. The classics had incredible plots, and even the best releases now are mostly remakes of those rather than independent storylines. Good times man

@mobiusdisk I personally think the new games have the pixels, but the classics have the plot Modern gaming feels like a tech demo, old school was a core memory. Maybe it’s nostalgia, or maybe stories just hit harder when the graphics weren't doing all the heavy lifting.

There’s nothing even close to any of these on the market anymore that’s produced now, and everything is geared towards consumption rather than creativity, hence the online slop that comes about. Sad state of affairs.
