we need to be kind so that our surroundings can be kinder too but you still need to put up boundaries. don’t let people who have hurt you repeatedly be entitled to all the kindness that exists within you. kindness comes to you because your heart is filled with the same thing.

years ago, i came across a quote “if you want people to care, you need to care first” it has stayed with me ever since. i think we need to be kind without expecting anything, because sometimes the reciprocity comes much later, when you least expect it. (it all comes back around).
