@TodayJays Perfect time to give Venezuela a chance. Kirk when healthy did not hit and could not throw out runners. Heineman essentially cost the Jays last two games.
Back to back series losses to the Rockies and the White Sox. Kirk injured. Ponce injured. Questions in the bullpen. Back to .500.
Long season, but this is a tough start.
Was just gonna say that scoring in the 1st inning today is exactly what this Blue Jays lineup needs to get going and then I remembered Grant Taylor is pitching that inning.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The Brandon Valenzuela trade wasn't a headliner by any means, but it's one of my favourite moves this front office has made in recent years.
Not how the #BlueJays wanted it to happen, but they'll get an extended look at Valenzuela now, who could be Kirk's long-term backup.
The one thing I will critique about the Blue Jays is that they didn't go out and sign a Rob Refsnyder type bat for the bench who absolutely crushes LHP with power to go with it. Watching Addison Barger get lifted from a tie game in the 9th for Myles Straw is....
Painful.
@TalkinBaseball_ White Sox player made a smart play with the bunt knowing the Jays back-up catcher just came into the game and the temperature was cold
Alejandro Kirk's replacement Tyler Heineman throws the ball away on a bunt allowing the tying to run to score. The White Sox then walked it off a batter later
@Damon98_ Definitely Heineman.. He was not prepared to come in an emergency situation with Kirk going down. I understand he has a pre-routine and temperature was cold but he is a professional and needs to be prepared.
Players I'd blame for that loss before Jeff Hoffman:
Tyler Heineman
Kazuma Okamoto
Dylan Cease
Jesùs Sánchez
Vladimir Guerrero Jr
Daulton Varsho
George Springer
Unbiased, Cam Schlittler is a top 3/4 pitcher in the entire AL and there could be argument to name him best in AL East.
Can’t deny it unfortunately and pretending he isn’t you’re just lying to yourself
