@matloff @TimTeaFan One of the things that is most exciting to me about what we're doing for this grant is the chance to strengthen (and where needed, repair) some of the connections with other R sub-communities. 🥰

Didn’t expect my post on {data.table}’s latest release to receive this much attention. I always thought #RStats Twitter is like 80% tidyverse 20% base and data.table. Or was it just the cool walrus wielding a lightsaber?

@TimTeaFan @matloff This idea of rejecting non-tidy tools because of a fear of "disloyalty" is, IMO, not founded. I don't know a single tidyverse fan who avoids non-tidy-tools when they are needed, and everyone I know speaks highly of data.table in particular. 💛

@TimTeaFan @matloff I disagree with Norm that there is anti-data-table sentiment among tidyverse users. There is probably anti-correlation, in that many tidy users have simpler needs than data.table addresses.

📢 It has been some time since #RStats {data.table} last major update in Feb 2021, but now it strikes back! 🚀 There are 41 new features in this release (v1.15). 👇 Below are the five features that I’m most excited about - the last one will blow your mind™! 🏃‍♂️ Lets’ go.

When prompting the image with „data table strikes back“ it was actually quite hard to remove all kind of star destroyers, small space ships and other people wielding lightsabers from the background. Finally worked when prompting a „deserted ice landscape“. This did the trick.
