Is the EPA trying to harm us? The EPA quietly reapproved one of the most dangerous pesticides in the world, and most people have no idea. “The EPA just reapproved Dicamba.” “Drift from Dicamba has damaged millions of acres of farmland.” “It’s devastated orchards, vegetable farms, home gardens, native plants, trees, and wildlife refuges across the country.” “Some experts have declared… it’s the worst of any herbicide in the history of US agriculture.” “A federal court actually revoked the EPA’s Dicamba registration.” “Now in 2026 they reapproved it with weaker restrictions.” @joelsalatin

In 2010, the Penobscot River in Maine had fewer than a thousand alewife fish spawning in it. In 2023, it had six million. The Penobscot was once one of the great fisheries of the North Atlantic. Atlantic salmon ran upstream in schools of 50,000 or more. Shad and alewives migrated 100 miles inland. Sturgeon went even farther. The Penobscot Nation had fished these waters for 8,000 years. Starting in the 1820s, Maine built dams on the river for industry. By the 1900s, the runs were almost extinct. In 2004 a coalition of the Penobscot Nation, the state, federal agencies, NGOs, and the dam owners signed an agreement to change the river. In 2012, the Great Works Dam came down. In 2013, the Veazie Dam came down. A stream-like bypass was built around the Howland Dam in 2016. Hydropower production did not decrease. The dam owners increased capacity at six other sites that had less ecological impact. Within a decade the fish came back. Alewives went from near zero to six million. Shad, striped bass, rainbow smelt, sea lamprey, American eel. Atlantic salmon are slower to recover but are returning. The whole coastal food web reassembled itself around the fish it had been built to support. There are roughly 90,000 dams in the United States. Most are obsolete. Most block fish that once sustained ecosystems and tribal nations and commercial fisheries for centuries. We built them over about 150 years. We can remove the obsolete ones in less time than that.

BREAKING: Experts SOUND ALARM after Trump issues memo that could allow his staff to delete millions of White House emails in violation of record preservation laws. The timing alone should set off alarm bells. The Trump administration is currently being challenged in court over its preservation of government documents. And this week, it issued new internal guidance that a leading archives expert says gives White House staff "license to do the exact opposite" of preserving records. The memo, issued by White House Counsel David Alan Warrington to Executive Office of the President staffers, represents a "significant departure from historical practice" — Warrington's own words. It quietly rewrites the rules around which communications need to be saved and how. University of Maryland professor Jason R. Baron, who specializes in archives and the law, read the memo and sounded the alarm immediately. The new guidance, he told the Washington Post, provides nothing that "prevents the White House from directing the transfer or destruction of White House records, including tens of millions of emails, either before or after the end of the president's second term in office." The key sleight of hand is buried in the language. The memo says EOP components are "free to retain" previous record-preservation policies. As Baron points out, that also means they are free not to. Text messages now only need to be preserved "when they are the sole record of official decision-making" — and staffers are merely "encouraged" to memorialize those exchanges in another format rather than preserving the original exchange directly. Translation: if someone decides a text isn't the "sole record" of something, they can delete it. And nobody has to take a screenshot. Federal law is unambiguous. Presidents and their staff are required to preserve records related to government activity and turn them over to the National Archives at the end of each administration. Warrington’s memo, however, doesn't clarify whether these records will actually be turned over, and doesn't specify how Trump or Vance will personally preserve their own records. This is the administration that used Signal to discuss active military strikes in a chat that included a journalist. The administration that has fired numerous inspectors general. The administration that is fighting records requests in court while issuing internal guidance that makes destruction discretionary. "While paying lip service to the need to preserve White House records," Baron said, "the memo actually gives EOP staff license to do the exact opposite." Nixon erased 18 minutes of tape. Trump's team may be preparing to erase tens of millions of emails. Please like and share this post if you believe the American people have a right to know what their government did — even after it leaves office.

Today my brother teacher @EnochBurke went before a disciplinary appeal panel. He was suspended from his job and jailed after refusing to accept transgenderism. What took place today was shocking. ➡️ By law the panel is to be an “informal hearing”. ➡️ When he arrived he was confronted by a top Employment Barrister as well as a Solicitor from a major Dublin law firm. ➡️The lawyers were acting for the school. ➡️ The presence of lawyers at such an appeal is contrary to law and to Department of Education procedures for dealing with appeals. ➡️ Enoch objected to the presence of these lawyers. ➡️ The Chair of the Disciplinary Appeals Panel, Claire Callanan said to Mr Burke: “We may be wrong and you may be right but we are going ahead nonetheless.” ➡️ When Enoch continued to object, he was removed by prison guards. ➡️ When members of his family who were present objected, they were removed by police. ➡️ Enoch Burke was taken back in a prison van to Castlerea prison. This is an utterly appalling and unbelievable travesty of justice.

BREAKING: Shocking scenes as Enoch Burke denied justice and forced out of Appeal Hearing by prison officers Enoch Burke’s mother Martina Burke and brother Dr Isaac Burke were also removed by police. At the start of the Disciplinary Appeal Panel hearing, which is by law an “informal” hearing, Enoch Burke objected to the presence of a top Employment Barrister as well as a Solicitor from a major Dublin law firm. Despite Enoch Burke’s repeated objections, the Chair of the Disciplinary Appeals Panel, Claire Callanan said to Mr Burke: “We may be wrong and you may be right but we are going ahead nonetheless.” Barrister Barra Faughnan BL and Solicitor Fiona Sheil of Mason Hayes & Curran Solicitors were acting for Wilson’s Hospital School at the hearing in Athlone today. The presence of lawyers at such an appeal is contrary to settled law and Department of Education procedures for dealing with appeals. Enoch Burke has now spent over 650 days behind bars after refusing to use they/them pronouns for a student. These are the third Disciplinary Appeal Panel proceedings in relation to Enoch Burke that have ended in shambles.

Agents held her down on table hitting her with their knees—physically pry her hand open to put fingerprint on forms. Then taken to "punishment cell" and left in freezing conditions with air conditioning blowing full blast. This happened just 2 days after her lawyer filed a formal petition in court challenging her continued immigration detention. Nicole Aracely Yanez Velez has been detained for over 2 years—despite claiming to have Convention Against Torture protection. She is currently locked up at the El Paso Service Processing Center in Texas.

Italian investigative @reportrai3 just unleashed a political earthquake. They’ve obtained never-before-heard 2017 audio of Paolo Zampolli, the man who introduced Melania to Donald Trump and now sits in his inner circle as Special Envoy to the US speaking of a secret pre-election PACT with the First Lady. In the recorded call to a UN-linked contact, Zampolli reveals Melania allegedly told him: “Paolo don’t worry... you have our back. Everything that happened, you protect... we protect you.” This was right after the Trumps crushed the 2016 Daily Mail story accusing Melania of escort work with a massive lawsuit and settlement. Zampolli says they kept their word after victory, pulling him deep into the President’s trusted circle like family. The full audio and investigation air this Sunday on Rai3. The teaser is already exploding across Italy. Zampolli is raging, threatening lawsuits but the tape is out there. It always comes back to Epste!n

🚨PRINCE REZA PAHLAVI JUST WENT FULL NUCLEAR ON THE ENTIRE EU PRESS & PARLIAMENT! 🔥🧨 I want to speak DIRECTLY to the people of Europe. In the past two weeks I held TWO MAJOR press conferences — one in Stockholm, one in Berlin. Over 150 JOURNALISTS showed up. We spent MORE THAN TWO HOURS with them… And guess what? NOT ONE SINGLE of those 150 journalists asked about the 40,000 IRANIANS SLAUGHTERED on the streets of my country on January 8th and 9th! NOT ONE asked about the 19 political prisoners EXECUTED in the last two weeks. When I told them 20 more are currently sentenced to death — CRICKETS. Not a damn question. I stood right next to a grieving mother and father who lost their sons in that massacre and begged them to listen to their stories… NOT A SINGLE ONE of those 150 journalists asked them a thing. Let that sink in. My 40,000 BRAVE INNOCENT COMPATRIOTS who were butchered fighting for liberty? They don’t give a damn. They are too busy criticizing America and Israel for taking out the dictator who’s been slaughtering our people for 47 YEARS — instead of going after the regime that’s actually doing the killing! They’d rather dig up Iran’s history than talk about what’s happening RIGHT NOW or the free democratic Iran we’re fighting for. One EU parliament member even had the nerve to say Iranians aren’t ready for democracy. To that coward and to every fake journalist in the room I say this: Iranians aren’t just “ready” for democracy… 40,000 of them just DIED for it! And I will NOT let their blood be in vain. SO HEAR ME LOUD AND CLEAR: Whether Europe stands with us or not… Whether your journalists do their damn jobs or not… Whether your politicians grow a spine or not… I WILL FIGHT FOR MY PEOPLE AND MY COUNTRY. Even if we have to do this ALONE — we are fighting until IRAN IS FREE! 🇮🇷💪 #RezaPahlavi‌ForIran @PahlaviReza

#Sloths 31 sloths have been found dead in the despicable Sloth World in Florida. Two sloths were dead on arrival after one shipment from Peru. Eight sloths "appeared emaciated and in very poor health" — and later died, according to the report. Florida wildlife officials discovered them after a routine and unannounced inspection. They say the sloths died from cold exposure and poor conditions. Under Florida statutes, Sloth World had no obligation to report the deaths. Sloth World should not exist. Sloths are uniquely unsuited to exposure to the stress of long transport and captivity. Would people flock to visit if they knew of the extreme cruelty, starting with brutal capture from their forest home?

Orcas have brain structures you don't have. Neurobiologist Lori Marino's MRI work on killer whales identified a fourth cortical segment called the paralimbic lobe. It sits next to the limbic system and handles emotion and social awareness. It doesn't exist in humans or in any land mammal. In orcas, it's so elaborated it erupts into the cortex. Their cortical limbic lobe, the region handling self-awareness and social processing, is exceptionally developed. Their brain weighs roughly 12 pounds, four times the mass of yours. They have spindle cells, the same neurons that let humans reason about other minds. When an orca surfaces and locks eyes with you, it's running a social assessment with neural hardware specialized for exactly that. It knows you're a separate being. It knows you're watching it back. It's evaluating you. Here's what should recontextualize the clip. In all of recorded history, wild orcas have killed zero humans. Zero documented fatalities. One surfer was bitten off California in 1972, and the orca released him the moment it realized he wasn't a sea lion. A 12-year-old was bumped in Alaska in 2005. The orca approached, touched him, turned back. Orcas hunt great white sharks. They coordinate wave attacks that sweep seals off ice floes. They take down moose swimming between islands. They have every capability to kill you. They have never chosen to. Marino's explanation: the orca neocortex is developed enough to instantly distinguish a human from prey. Other researchers point to orca culture, the traditions passed through pods across generations, in which humans simply aren't food. That look is recognition and restraint. From a mind built for social cognition at a scale your brain can't reach.

Wolf spiders are one of the best household pest controllers in North America. And people still kill them on sight. They don't build webs. They hunt. Cockroaches, crickets, silverfish, earwigs, mosquitoes, ants, moths, and even smaller spiders. They track prey down by sight and speed, pounce, and take it out. A single wolf spider can work through dozens of insects a week. They are not aggressive toward humans. Their bite, in rare cases when they feel cornered, is comparable to a bee sting. No serious medical threat there. They would much rather run than confront anything larger than a cricket. The female carries her egg sac on her back. When the babies hatch, they ride on her until they're ready to leave. She's a mom doing pest control. If you find a wolf spider inside, the best thing you can do is nothing. Let it keep working. If it's somewhere inconvenient, slide a cup over it and a piece of paper under the cup, and walk it outside. The pest control company you'd call costs hundreds of dollars. The wolf spider works for free. Don't squish them. You should buy the next one you see a beer as a thank you.

I wrote about this in my newsletter. The Weather Service didn't launch balloons recently and got surprised by tornadoes in Kansas. DOGE cuts at NWS cut out weather balloon launches which gather data for storm prediction. You are less safe because of that choice.
