Le sigarette elettroniche aromatizzate causano danni polmonari permanenti. Negli Stati Uniti, molti adolescenti hanno sviluppato una patologia chiamata “polmone a popcorn” dopo aver svapato per vari anni. Il nome medico è la bronchiolite obliterante, una patologia che danneggia le vie aeree più piccole dei polmoni, causando tosse cronica, respiro sibilante, estrema stanchezza e costante difficolta’ a respirare. Un tempo, il “polmone a popcorn” era collegato all’esposizione degli operai al diacetile negli impianti di produzione di popcorn per microonde. Ma oggi la preoccupazione si è spostata sulle sigarette elettroniche. Il vapore delle sigarette elettroniche contiene una complessa miscela di sostanze chimiche. Molti aromi sono sicuri da mangiare, ma quando vengono riscaldati e inalati, diventano pericolosi. Danneggiano direttamente il tessuto polmonare ed entrano nel sangue senza alcun filtro. Le svapo sono diventate particolarmente popolari tra gli adolescenti, soprattutto per i gusti dolci e fruttati. Ed è qui che il rischio aumenta. Più di 180 agenti aromatizzanti vengono utilizzati negli e-liquidi. Se riscaldate, possono formare composti tossici. Sebbene il diacetile sia stato rimosso da alcuni prodotti, sostituti come l’acetoina, anche questi potrebbero essere altrettanto dannosi. Quando queste sostanze chimiche vengono svapate, raggiungono i polmoni e altri organi in pochi secondi. Gli studi dimostrano che i giovani che svapano segnalano più problemi respiratori, anche rispetto ai fumatori. Ci vogliono normative più severe, etichette più chiare, test migliori e educazione sanitaria. Svapare può sembrare più sicuro che fumare. Ma l’inalazione di queste miscele chimiche può causare danni permanenti e ridurre l’aspettativa di vita. Il messaggio che svapare o fumare la sigaretta elettronica non fa male, e’ sbagliato!! Fanno male eccome!!

Il diritto alla salute, qualificato dalla Costituzione come “fondamentale”, in questa foto sprofonda per terra incivilmente. Un 60enne malato di tumore, nel pronto soccorso di Senigallia, è costretto a sdraiarsi sul pavimento per il dolore, dopo aver atteso per ore una barella. È la sanità la nostra prima emergenza nazionale. Il problema non nasce certo oggi, con questo Governo. Ora la situazione però è arrivata a un punto di non ritorno, con 6 milioni di persone che non si curano più e livelli di investimento in sanità rispetto al Pil molto lontani da quel 7% a cui eravamo tornati con la pandemia. Dove sono i provvedimenti urgenti? Se non ci si rende conto che serve un piano shock su questo anziché buttare soldi nelle spese militari nel giro di qualche anno avremo i diritti dei cittadini ridotti a carta straccia. Vanno rivisti subito gli impegni sul riarmo, bisogna immediamente mettere in campo una terapia d'urto per pronto soccorso, ospedali, liste d'attesa e medicina territoriale.
