The origin story of the white flags: Blackburn Flags manufactured over 700k flags in a handful of days, using special film that catches the light. Three different states housed the material/flags before they arrived at @theNationalMall at dawn on Sept. 14, 2021.

She spent days (and one all-nighter) creating a layout that would accommodate all the flags. (I estimated max 630k flags. I was so wrong.) After the flag design was set, we sited signage, benches, and reception stations.
