When you're looking for job outside academia, there's a lot you don't have to worry about until later. Start reflecting on your values, skills, experiences, interests. Then research possible jobs, especially by doing informational interviews. Writing a resume is a later problem.

@classicleeranb as a fellow grad student (some moons ago)…on low days, I’d pick one thing to complete that day. I often found more things to do while in lab. And good music helps. And treating yourself after. You can do it, Leeran! I’m cheering for ya. So many others are too!!!

@lakhassane @FromPhDtoLife Hmm...one could be both! A freelance consultant may mean one works for an employer short term. My colleague described this as - freelance contractors are hired to perform a task/job; freelance consultants are hired to bring expertise & advise on direction/design/etc. Thoughts?

@FromPhDtoLife My question is not the barrier between those? When does one considered he is no longer a freelancer but now a consultant?

Who has their own business? Self-employed? Freelancer? Occasional consulting? Once in a while paid talks? I suspect lots of PhDs are in this category, whether extremely occasionally to full-time with employees!
