Every year, my dad’s side of the family goes to Sea Isle City, NJ, over Labor Day, where we stay in a house on the bay. Our back porch and dock face west, so the sunset views are spectacular. I used to sit and watch the boats coming back in during the evening with Poppy (my grandpa). I was out on the dock thinking about him and watching the sun set as the boats came in when I captured this moment. It’s one of my favorite photos, partly because of the beauty of the evening, but also because of the memories it brings back.
I entered this photo into an online competition and made it to the final round. The competition is more of a popularity contest than a traditional judged photo contest, so I’d really appreciate your support through votes and/or shares to your friends.
