Were we too harsh on the Hobbit Trilogy?

@TolkienWorldG Expectations!!!!! I was freaked out when I first saw 3, three hour films, from a book I read in 2 days when I was 10.... (I'm 55 now). Hated it, couldn't work it out. Watched it again recently...... Still too long, of course, but enjoyed it waaaaay more
