Defense Minister Dong Jun had a video call with Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov on January 27.
Minister Dong noted that in 2026, the two countries will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Russia strategic partnership of coordination and the 25th anniversary of the signing of the China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Russian side to earnestly deliver on the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, strengthen strategic coordination, enrich the content of cooperation, improve exchange mechanisms, jointly enhance the capability to address various risks and challenges, and join hands to contribute positive energy to global security and stability.
Minister Belousov noted that the Russian side is willing to work with the Chinese side to strengthen strategic consultations between the two militaries, deepen practical cooperation in areas such as joint operations and personnel training, and take strategic coordination to a higher level.
