BREAKING: President Trump announces a 10% tariff on Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the UK, Netherlands, and Finland beginning February 1st. This tariff will be increased to 25% beginning on June 1st. Tariffs will remain in effect until the US reaches a deal to buy Greenland. “It is time for Denmark to give back,” Trump says.

@LFriszt This isn‘t about about the imaginary non existent threat from China or Russia, there is a specific mine there for HREE‘s an Australian mining company operated there but since around 2020 there is mining ban due to the Uranium content being higher than 100ppm.

@LFriszt there is an ongoing lawsuit, about whether the ban is arbitrary between the Greenlandic government and the company, and also a tribulation comitee, in which Denmark could be held liable for 11 billion dolars in damages for the wasted expanditure.

@LFriszt This Australian company is partially owned by Chinese shareholders, so even if than ban disappears the US wouldn‘t want them to mine there unless this Chinese subsidary is forced to relinquish it‘s share. But it also wants the ban not to stay so American companies can operate.

@LFriszt Ideal scenario for the US is Denmark being held financially liable and the ban being lifted, the bad scenario for the US is the ban stays or this Australian company decides to keep the Chinese investors. They are also on a time crunch they want to secure as much rare earth…

@LFriszt supply as quickly as possible, the agremeent between Trump and Xi bought them some time but the Americans want to get rid of this dependancy as soon as possible.
