@Jimfrombaseball Leo had a big mouth,..... but sometimes the truth came out of it.
English

@FunFunGamesFun @Jimfrombaseball Baseball is a team sport. Jackson was not a good "teammate." His stats tell us he was a great "player." The Steinbrenner family (NYY) had no shortage of great "players." They own the team. Ask Hal or Cashman what they think about Jackson. They'd say "no comment."
English

@CV67Catapult @Jimfrombaseball When a player has an OPS+ of 139, he's helping his team win games. They can say what they want; his teams went to 11 post-seasons and won 4 rings. There's never been a player in MLB history who hit over 550 HR and wasn't good for his team.
English

@CV67Catapult @Jimfrombaseball Munson and Hunter didn't like him, but they kept the rings they got when he hit over .400 with 7 HR in '77 and '78.
English

@FunFunGamesFun @Jimfrombaseball Reggie never appeared in another WS after he left the NYY. See Angels 82-86. I knew Chris Chambliss personally in 1976/77. I'm old (73). Chris's locker was next to Jackson. Chris was a "quiet guy." Trust me, Jackson wasn't liked by anyone. P.S. Chris&Audry lived in my building.
English

@CV67Catapult @Jimfrombaseball He was also 36 when they traded him. And the year he left, the Angels won their division after finishing 5th the previous year; the Yankees went sub .500 after appearing in 3 World Series in 5 years while Reggie was there. They didn't make it back to the WS for 15 years
English

@FunFunGamesFun @Jimfrombaseball All true. Doesn't change the original premise. If Reggie is your friend, I wish you luck. He is in the same category as Barry Bonds for me. Persona non grata. Bad for baseball.
English

@CV67Catapult @Jimfrombaseball Definitely not going to take the other side of "He was a jerk!" Lol I'm just saying that the man could play (unlike Durocher, who was also a jerk!)
Not sure about the bad for baseball...he generated a lot of interest/excitement in the 70s.
English

@FunFunGamesFun @Jimfrombaseball All fair. The 70's were fun,.... baseball and disco.😎
English

@CV67Catapult @Jimfrombaseball I'd trade 2020s baseball to have 1970s baseball back in a heartbeat.
English

@FunFunGamesFun @Jimfrombaseball Big Red Machine,..... Willie Stargell and Family,....and of course, the Orioles.
