@AlexNowrasteh @cremieuxrecueil The NRC was created by an act that Ford signed into law in 1974. Before the NRC, nuclear power was dirt cheap and getting cheaper. It was about $0.03 / kWh (in today's $). That is as cheap as coal has ever been.

@KernelArray @cremieuxrecueil I'm not convinced that's true. I favor deregulating nuclear power and maybe you're correct, but I wouldn't be so confident. cato.org/working-paper/…
