I don't know what they are doing over there, but Codex will continue to be available both in the FREE and PLUS ($20) plans. We have the compute and efficient models to support it. For important changes, we will engage with the community well ahead of making them. Transparency and trust are two principles we will not break, even if it means momentarily earning less. A reminder that you vote with your subscription for the values you want to see in this world.

For clarity, we're running a small test on ~2% of new prosumer signups. Existing Pro and Max subscribers aren't affected.

Just gonna leave this here from a post I wrote a few days ago: "It's rather interesting, isn't it, that actually OpenAI, not getting Windsurf and the Windsurf team going to DeepMind and producing Antigravity, has actually worked out better for OpenAI and Codex. At the time, everyone was saying it's an L for OpenAI. How times and things can change. Antigravity is crap because the underlying model Gemini is crap at coding, good at other things, crap at coding. Using Claude inside of Antigravity is not sustainable for all sorts of reasons because of Ant. My bold prediction is that OpenAI with Codex will win back devs on mass and OAI will eventually win the enterprise, especially with the refocus. Ant just doesn't have the compute. OAI has the compute at least until 2028-30, so we shall see from there onwards. Ant clearly has a C-suite cultural problem and a PR problem which trickles down to the customer experience. I am absolutely baffled as a business customer how they are winning on enterprise. They seem to move the goalpost daily, okay, weekly for customers."

Good sir, I stand corrected. Let me rephrase. Through daily use of Gemini 3 and 3.1 Pro over the last six months, I can categorically affirm it is utterly incompetent at coding. And anyone who has used this model at length will attest to that. It's not even in the conversation when it comes to great coding (sota) models. Chinese open source models like Kimi et al. are better at coding then he, it, thing

@LiveMatrixCode @thsottiaux Really? I haven’t had that experience. What kind of work in particular? I’ve found it pretty good at front end design at least
