American companies that mine potash to produce the fertilizer need sulfuric acid to do so and that is where the difficulty is at the moment, heavily affected by the straight of Hormuz. Production is costlier and behind. They may not be paying higher prices right now but I'm afraid they will be. Of course it's nothing China can't produce for us 😒

@OGJavaB1 @DanielTurnerPTF We need to make our own industrial chemicals! If this encourages a return to self-sufficiency, a little short term discomfort is worth it.

We do produce it but it's a by product of the oil & gas refining process and is used globally for thousands of products. The cost to produce it has skyrocketed in the last few years and there is a significant shortage. Another example of how oil prices affect EVERYTHING. It's cheaper from China of course but I know first hand that our American companies are suffering.
