I think it's interesting that most music played backwards has such a distinct sound, probably bc we're so used to sounds starting suddenly, to then decay and reverberate it's pretty rare for sounds to slowly build, only to suddenly halt, so there's this strong temporal asymmetry

@FreyaHolmer And even if you make an instrument with a slow attack and no release time, you usually still write so the instrument starts on the beat rather than ending on it. It's tough to intentionally do it the other way

@Problem_Machine hmm yeah, I was thinking about the intro to this song (ignoring percussion and bells), as something that is a little more reversible than usual because of the uniformity of the sound, but you're right the notes do generally end a little early youtube.com/watch?v=dtMLKK…
