A graduate level scholarship was funded by the generous support of former professor Jody (Jo Ann) Carrigan. Dr. Carrigan came to the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) in 1970 and became the first female full professor in the College of Arts and Sciences in 1971

where she taught on medical and social history. In her lifetime, Dr. Carrigan advocated for equity for women in the workplace, fought against inequalities inside and outside of academia, and supported historical scholarship and public engagement.
