Report: Hezbollah and Rami Makhlouf Reportedly Preparing Major Operation on Syria’s Alawite Coast
Informed Lebanese sources points to a coordinated effort involving Rami Makhlouf, former Assad-regime officers, and figures connected to Hezbollah’s circles in Beirut’s southern suburb. The goal, according to these sources, is to prepare the ground for a military operation targeting areas of the Syrian (Alawite) coast
The plan appears to rely on three main elements: money, former regime officers, and logistical support from outside Syria.
Makhlouf, who is currently based in Moscow, is said to have opened channels with Lebanese Hezbollah-linked figures and former Assad loyalists now present in Lebanon. The objective is reportedly to organize, fund, and prepare armed groups that could move when the so-called “zero hour” arrives.
The coastal region is being viewed by these networks as a weak flank for the Julani regime. Their calculation is simple: if Al-Julani regime becomes distracted by developments in Lebanon, armed groups on the coast could move from behind, create chaos, and try to impose a new reality on the ground.
The information also indicates that a number of former Syrian regime officers who fled to Lebanon are now active within Hezbollah-linked military structures. These officers bring experience in intelligence, field command, planning, and operational coordination. Their presence has reportedly strengthened these networks, especially after Hezbollah suffered losses among its own experienced cadres.
Funding is also part of the picture. Sources say money has been moved through intermediaries and businessmen to support salaries, equipment, and preparations for fighters. One initial figure being discussed is around 6 million dollars, with the possibility of more funding later.
The broader objective is: the formation of Alawite armed groups on the coast, the weakening of the Al-Julani terror regime, and possibly the announcement of a separate coastal entity if conditions allow. At minimum, the aim is to destabilize the coast and use it as leverage against Damascus.
