🚨 BREAKING NEWS 🚨 CONGRESS HAS CANCELED THE HLS CONTRACT WITH SPACEX!!! MORE DETAILS HERE: Today Congress has issued legislation effectively canceling SpaceX’s contract for the HLS lander for the Artemis program. Representative Charles Monroe (R-AL), of the space exploration committee in the House of Representatives has issued the following statement: “The situation at hand with SpaceX’s starship program in the context of the Artemis lunar program cannot be ignored any longer. The consistent and repeated failure of spaceX’s starship vehicle to complete a successful mission, as well as repeated delays to the promised 2024 landing date, cannot continue to be rewarded with taxpayer dollars any longer. Given NASA’s already limited resources we have elected to terminate the HLS contract with SpaceX. This is not a decision we have made lightly either, months of deliberation have gone into this decision which we feel is best for our nation’s space program.” It is unknown how the HLS program will proceed, though it is likely that more resources will be allocated to the blue origin lander and the SLS rocket.
