Amazing, now watch single family prices skyrocket. Developers will tear them down and build 4-6 story properties everywhere. It will be an abomination. Congratulations to the commies, they win again.

Cambridge officially ended single-family zoning citywide. The City Council voted 8–1 to allow four-story residential buildings by right across the city, with six stories allowed for certain affordable housing projects.

@TrollyP71 1.) Allowing property owners to build what they want on their own land without government interference is not in fact, communism. 2.) Single family homes in Cambridge have already skyrocketed

@jimfoley What you don't seem to be seeing is where this is headed. This is marching towards more buyouts, more state owned housing, and far less individual property ownership.

@TrollyP71 The state building more housing has nothing to do with zoning. Again property owners building on their own property - free of government interference -is the opposite of “communism”.

@jimfoley So yes, you see what is happening. They are going to push out individual ownership and it will shift to more corporate owned housing - capitalism but with this will come subsidies and section 8 along with state controlled housing. It's a step on a long path to remove individuals

@TrollyP71 That's an entirely different problem. Has nothing to do with "government prevents property owner from building condos and condos". People shouldn't have to move to Texas to find a place to live.

@jimfoley This will make it even more expensive. The construction costs in Cambridge are insanely high due to gov. mandates. More people will be driven out.

@TrollyP71 If the total number of dwellings goes up how would more people be driven out? Your problem is population growth. Restrictive zoning isn’t going to stop people from having kids or moving to Cambridge for biotech jobs
