NEWS: GM says it has no plans to cancel the Chevy Silverado EV or GMC Sierra EV, despite Ford cancelling the F-150 Lightning and Stellantis cancelling its all-electric Ram pickup. GM: “There are no specific sales objectives tethered to the truck’s longevity, and no plans to cut production at this time. The Silverado EV having the longest range in the segment – up to 493 miles – it can tow up to 12,500 pounds, which we know our truck customers demand, and haul up to 1,800 pounds of payload.” This is good. The more EV options for consumers, the better.

@SawyerMerritt The reason why the Chevy trucks are winning: 66 kWh, or 120 miles of range in 12 minutes.

Sure. But at 60% battery, which is the equivalent to 100% battery of a cybertruck, the Silverado is charging at 247 kW... If you like less range, slower charging, and going to charging stations more often, sure get the cybertruck. It's an amazing truck. In my opinion, it needs 80 more kWh in the battery to be good for me. Some people just like to stop twice more often to charge...

@andrebdp @SawyerMerritt No, you're still not getting it... After 12 minutes the Silverado has charged ~120 miles, after 12 minutes Cybertruck has also charged ~120 miles. The only advantage the Silverado has is that it can go ~100 miles further on the first leg, after that they're equal.

@JJ_Zarathustra @SawyerMerritt 😂. You don't get it. In 24 minutes, I can add an entire cybertruck battery in kWh in the Silverado (120 kWh). The cybertruck takes 1 hour to complete this task. Cybertruck is more efficient, but not by a factor of 2... Maybe just 20% more...
