What did we make of the big Xbox GDC talk on the future of building for the platform? We now have a vision for the future of gaming - and how Windows will play a core role for Microsoft: digitalfoundry.net/features/xbox-…
@digitalfoundry You guys were EXTREMELY pessimistic about Helix. Honestly, I was very disappointed in your reporting today. The reporting didn't match the overall excitement surrounding Helix online.
@digitalfoundry I assumed you'd at least "give it a chance", but seems like haven't even done basic brainstorming about it.
Are you really sure this is the only take you can get from the presentation?
Or... could it actually be the opposite?
(You know how Xbox OS and NT kernel work, right)?
@digitalfoundry As someone who has an OG Xbox, Xbox 360 (ended up buying 3 of em cos first RRoD twice, second scratching discs), Xbox One and a Series X I won’t be buying an Xbox “console” again. It’s just gonna be a PC now with an Xbox lick of paint. I have no interest at all in PC gaming.
@digitalfoundry How can anyone not be excited about this console? You’re literally getting a high end PC and next generation console for one price.
Anyone trying to downplay this has another agenda.
@digitalfoundry I don't see a real vision at all and that's the issue. Combining Xbox and Windows isn't a vision no matter how they want to spin it. And now I hear the Steam will be on it narrative was just speculation and probably untrue, so there goes any interest at all in Helix
@digitalfoundry If Helix were a PlayStation product, you’d all be calling it the best device on the market and telling everyone to buy it without thinking twice. But since it’s from Xbox, suddenly everything becomes ‘debatable’.
@digitalfoundry Nothing that interesting TBH unless you want to speculate. GDC 2027 gonna be the real deal.
But we do know that DirectX Next and RDNA 5 will be a huge leap forward. Beyond what's currently available on PC. Work graphs-driven PCG, simulation, and rendering, neural shading etc...
@digitalfoundry It will be a SDK that can compile the same game code to two different platforms(Win/Xbox). Simultaneous Cross-Platform Game Development.
The PS3 could run a verion of Linux OS, does that mean the PS3 was a PC and not console?
@digitalfoundry Digital foundry can't be trusted after they had ppl thinking Resident Evil Reqium was best on the PS5 Pro, how did that turn out, they still for Sony.
@digitalfoundry The dudes face in the image says it all "Yup we gave up and made a PC, oh well, it's more than just 4 games and the signs were all there".
@digitalfoundry Are you telling us that you, Sony fanboy asshole, know more about the next XBOX CONSOLE than Xbox itself? You have no idea how the following CONSOLE will work. You're just a fucking fanboy asshole who's throwing shit out of your mouth every day.
@digitalfoundry You don't have shit other than speculation. And still waiting for an explanation of why it's confusing to you to buy once for 2 copies of games.
