I have shared that picture of Zâhir Shâh because I am fascinated by it. At one point Afghanistan was such a safe and stable place (despite its clear underdevelopment and poverty) that the King could go to a random tea house without any bodyguards and protection.

All the disgraces and problems Afghanistan has faced in the last 50 decades began when Daud Khân ousted Zahir Shâh.
Despite his shortcomings and mistakes, he was truly a bening ruler. Specially compared to all the psychos who came after his demise.

@MRScatman_dev @ZabAkbar it was like that with Soviet soldiers, hence Soviet Central Asian soldiers defected to their brethren of Afghan Turkestan or Russian/Ukrainian soldiers themselves converted to Islam or opposed the war. Hence they may have thought the same with Afghans.
