This is what I was telling you guys. Declan Rice has been anonymous in this first half. England needed someone to receive under pressure, progress the ball, and control the midfield, but Rice has looked safe, slow, and predictable. Every time England tried to build attacks, the midfield lacked urgency. I'm convinced that if Kobbie Mainoo was on the pitch, England would've had more control between the lines, quicker ball progression, and more composure under pressure. Mainoo always wants the ball and isn't afraid to turn and drive forward. Rice is a good ball winner, but games like this expose his limitations when England need creativity and tempo from midfield. Do you still think Rice should start ahead of Mainoo after that first half? 🤔
