A day behind the wheel today for @PulhamsCoaches on rail replacement. Naturally, I opted for a Volvo - This one is Pulhams only Volvo 9700 and a fine machine it is too.

A recent trip to India provided an opportunity to view first hand the variety of standards, investment and maintenance where passenger transport is concerned. At one end of the scale is an owner-operated, well used three wheeler and at the other end is a smart @VolvoBusesIN 9700.

3/3 next stop kit programming, BODS registrations, duty and rota compilation, website updates, maintenance and MOT planning for additional buses etc etc - There is more I’ve not covered and a number of people involved in making it happen. Here’s to a smooth launch day tomorrow 🙏

2/3 Driver recruitment, driver induction and training, uniform to be ordered, vehicles to be added to MID and operator licence, vinyls to be designed and applied, timetables to be designed and printed, route learning, risk assessment / route tests, ticket machine programming,

1/3 A late night tonight, putting the finishing touches to routes 112 and 213, that @FourwayCoach begin operating tomorrow in the Batley and Dewsbury areas under the @GWYbus brand. As ever, a significant amount of work completed ahead of day 1, which is unseen by our customers.

Today saw me visit @ITV to meet with the @emmerdale team. @FourwayCoach have worked with the Emmerdale team for many years and our drivers love being involved. I couldn’t turn down a photo behind the bar of ‘The Woolpack’ between meetings 🍺

Despite the best efforts of the British weather to unsettle our mobilisation, Tranche 3 is well underway and buses have left all 4 depots as planned. Here is an early morning departure from Ashton depot.

One of 2 x 2017 Volvo B11R Levante 56 seat coaches bought by @AdvCoachlines a few months ago. Having just been painted into Bws BlackBerry, this coach is now out earning its keep on private hire and rail replacement work. Levantes aren’t for everyone, but they have their place.

Whilst I’m temporarily busy in Manchester, the Welsh team re-started the operation of route 14 in Swansea today, which was briefly secured by another operator in May this year. Great to be back serving Pennard again with the same drivers who made it so successful prior to May.

Metroline Manchester operation now imminent! An incredible amount of work has gone into this mobilisation, undertaken by a superb team of committed, experienced colleagues. Great to bump into some ex @StagecoachSouth colleagues too, who were collecting surplus buses from Ashton.

The final countdown to the mobilisation of Manchester Tranche 3 is on… 19 hours until Metroline Manchester take over the operation of this depot (Ashton / Tameside) and 3 others. I’m seconded here for a couple of weeks to assist with handover and mobilisation.
