Someone at the BBC must have a humiliation kink - because I will never understand how we almost soared to victory in 2022 with our greatest entry since 1998 and have gone back to this diabolically staged car-crash of an entry. 2023-2026 is really 2005-2008 all over again.

@Barwineewindas @oneurope_esc sure, but it'd be nice to aim for top 10s even if not aiming for a win... and from a soft power point of view - UK taking a beating on the world stage once a year does make the BBC look incompetent even if the ratings are good.

@oneurope_esc @AfterLiverpool It's incredible value. It's almost impossible to suggest something that the BBC could spend so little on to get so much for. It's why they pay B5 money and then toss zero into the selection. The show and it's ratings are the point, not competing.

Why can't we have a whole fresh team at BBC Eurovision. 26 years of slop other than like 3 entries during that time and nobody internally seemingly able to speak up and say this is bad.

@EmperorBort I'd send a song that isn't lyrically awful & sang by someone who is shouting & not stage it like it's kids TV for starters. I'd do a serious & credible piano ballad or a serious & credible indie rock group & if i wanted something edgy & on the nose cultural but fun, a sea shanty.

@AfterLiverpool What would you do instead? This is the best and most exciting entry we've had since Sam Ryder. It won't score on the level of Sam Ryder but I think our position right now is up in the air. But It's easy to slag on the UK just to get likes and reacts. So what would you do?

@heppolo1 @cammyclare @fan_eurovision it's just sad because late 90s, even the long list of songs on TOTP before the national selection & chosen act were stronger than most sent this millennium by the BBC. It's baffling.

@cammyclare @AfterLiverpool @fan_eurovision "Don't play that song again" had the truly british level of irony in the songtitle, a mediocre/dated song (although Steps were selling that ABBA-esque stuff pretty well at the time) performed really well but also poorly staged/dressed

@cammyclare @fan_eurovision Jessica, Jade & Sam were all great. We have had other good songs that were awful live like Javine. Blue felt like it messed up staging wise but was a good song.

@AfterLiverpool @fan_eurovision I'd say we've had five competitive, decently performed entries in, Garlick, Ewen, Blue, Jones & Ryder. They seem to come along every five years or so...

The ebu favours Finland so much. They didn’t allow Eva to play her violin live but they allowed Linda. Thats so unfair.
