Wierd how Trump's Iran "plan" is just a time compressed version of Putin's invasion of Ukraine, with all catastrophic mistakes included. Now Trump will destroy Iran's power plants, which (as we see with Ukraine) will further solidify the people's resolve and hatred of the US, as well as rallying humanitarian support from Iran's allies, which will lead to and further cement military support from those allies.

THREATS WONT WORK: If Trump hits Iranian power plants, which is clearly a suggestion by Netanyahu, say goodbye to Gulf States power & water desalination plants. In 48 hours the most likely outcomes are: 1) The SOH will likely see mines appear/detected/being planted… deliberately & obviously. 2) The next ship without an IRGC EzPass will get set aflame by small boats 3) Jebel Ali has power plant & desalinization complex supporting Dubai will be hit massively by drones. This is no off ramp, it’s Trump crashing the car into the divider … because it will “look cool.”

There is no overarching strategy here. No plan. They're just reacting to developments without thinking about any of the consequences.

Beyond the illegality of this, there’s the fact that it’s incredibly stupid. Do we think we’re going to win by creating 30 million refugees? How many suicide bombers will be created by scenes of neonatal ICUs going dark? Saddam Hussein tried these tactics, and they didn’t work.

This is a threat of war crimes. Using civilian suffering as coercion for an unrelated military object violates multiple levels of the DoD Law of War Manual and the laws of war. Distinction, necessity, and proportionality all come into play. This is a Russian mentality. Barbaric.

Get ready for $250 a barrel oil. Trump does this, guarantee you every refinery and piece of infrastructure in the Persian Gulf will be attacked. What’s the logic here? Trump just freaked out when they hit one gas facility in Qatar. This valuation will be far worse.

Russia plans to shut down Telegram in early April — even as its own military relies on app for all battlefield communication. "That would be like shooting entire Russian army in the head" — Russian soldier to Politico. 1/

Striking civilian electrical infrastructure is a war crime. The President is threatening war crimes because of an oil price. Congress must impeach, or the cabinet must invoke the 25th amendment. This is unacceptable and outside of the authority of the President.

Based on the emergency meeting of Israel’s war cabinet I’m guessing Trump’s illegal threats are because Israel told him they intend to escalate. The strike on Israel tonight was major, and Israel tries to solve its problems by escalation. Trump can’t afford another escalation and hopes bullying and threats will solve his problems.

All true, but it sucks for the global economy and even worse for the US outlook. The Strait of Hormuz is just a distraction. The real story is bonds. What the yield curve is saying. msn.com/en-us/money/ma…

@realDonaldTrump ups the ante against the Islamic Republic of Iran. The regime has 48 hours to open the Strait of Hormuz or the U.S. will begin striking Iranian power stations.

Trump: “If Iran doesn’t FULLY OPEN, WITHOUT THREAT, the Strait of Hormuz, within 48 HOURS from this exact point in time, the United States of America will hit and obliterate their various POWER PLANTS, STARTING WITH THE BIGGEST ONE FIRST! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP”

🇺🇦 Ukraine Frontline_Daily
The Times just published a piece with Ukrainian air defense officers sharing what they’ve learned from years of real combat. A few points stand out. First, the friendly fire incident over Kuwait, where three F-15s were shot down. Friendly fire happens in war, but this scale raised concerns. Analysts point to a key difference: some crews rely on automatic mode so they can take cover during an attack, leaving the system to select and engage targets. Ukrainian operators stay at the controls, checking identification, tracking the trajectory, and choosing the moment to fire, even though it puts them at greater risk. Second, Ukraine has been feeding real battlefield data back to partners for years, including the United States and other NATO countries that operate Patriot systems. According to one officer, “I don’t understand what they had been doing… for the four years we’ve been fighting.” That gap between experience and application is hard to ignore. Third, cost discipline. There were cases of multiple Patriot missiles being used on a single target, and even $6 million interceptors fired at drones worth a fraction of that. Ukraine learned early that this approach does not scale in a prolonged fight. Fourth, positioning. High value systems left in fixed locations were exposed and eventually hit by relatively cheap drones. In one case, a THAAD radar worth around $300 million was hit after remaining in the same position for weeks. Ukraine adapted by constantly moving and concealing its air defense assets. Ukraine’s experience can directly improve how NATO operates air defense. From managing interceptor costs to reducing friendly fire and improving target identification, these are lessons learned under real combat conditions that can be applied now. thetimes.com/world/russia-u…
