@gummibear737 Take 100 steps back and take in a broader view. When Trump tore up the JCPOA he also tore up any economic benefits Iran desperately needed. Iran’s only leverage was to start enrichment above base levels to use as a bargaining tool. The US administration knows this.

Iran was trying to use the North Korean model to get a nuke: create sufficient conventional deterrence so you won’t be challenged in acquiring one (it’s called the Seoul Hostage Problem). This has been explained over and over since day one. Everyone claiming shifting goalposts or no imminent threat has been lying. The reason North Korea was allowed to get nukes is because Seoul (and its 10 million inhabitants) is within artillery and rocket range of North Korea. During the 1994 nuclear crisis, the Clinton administration seriously considered airstrikes on North Korea’s Yongbyon reactor but backed off precisely because of the artillery threat to Seoul. Iran was trying to accomplish the same by stockpiling missiles and drones which would have had the same deterrent effect. The proof is what Iran has been doing in the past month: attacking all its neighbors in order to pressure the US to stop attacking it Beyond this, they were building medium-range ballistic missiles that could reach Paris and London, meaning all of Europe could be held hostage as they built a nuclear bomb. The reason Iran has not built a nuclear weapon until now is not because it couldn’t, but because it knew it would be attacked and denied this capability. So by allowing them to continue developing this conventional deterrence, you would be allowing Iran to get a nuclear weapon. And unlike North Korea, Iran is led by an eschatological death cult Reagan saw nuclear mutually assured destruction (MAD) as both morally bankrupt (because of the innocent-body-count problem) and dangerously fragile because it assumed flawless rationality between adversaries…this means it only takes one irrational actor to destroy the world. Working backwards from the conclusion that Iran’s Islamist regime must never have a nuclear weapon, it was necessary for the US to attack Iran to deny it the conventional capacity to hold the entire eastern hemisphere hostage. Every European leader knows this and behind the scenes praises the US for this action. But they are cowards, held hostage by their own internal Muslim populations, and so adopt these ridiculous public positions. This was never about Israel. And if your argument is that Iran should be allowed to get a nuclear weapon then you are a fool and a traitor to western civilization…you’re a useful idiot

Secretary of State Marco Rubio gives an excellent explanation on why the U.S. needed to strike Iran It's less than 2 minutes and is worth the watch

Is use of nuclear weapons in the #IranWar‌ possible? A good piece (via SubStack) from @junotane considering how it might happen and why its not impossible. I think it unlikely - but not impossible. Two possible scenarios - a) Trump walks away, leaving a strategic mess and a closed Strait of Hormuz, and saying to Europe and Asia - 'you sort it out'. He's already in effect said words to that effect. US credibility is destroyed, an out of control global energy crisis worsens, and Russia and China are emboldened as a result. No nuclear use now - maybe the 'nuclear taboo' is breached by Moscow or Beijing in a future crisis later because they no longer fear US retaliation. They can do what they want. b) A ground war begins - escalates - and fails to see the Straits of Hormuz opened, or the US successfully achieve its other objectives - and the cost in lives lost is horrendous. With its credibility on the line, we're either back to 'a', or Trump ponders the use of nuclear weapons, in a manner that @Junotane has suggested. open.substack.com/pub/junotane/p…

Trump: NATO has treated the United States of America very unfairly. We never asked for anything. We never got anything. FC: This claim is false and demeans the memory of Allied servicemembers who died protecting Americans. @Acyn (2026)

Donald Trump has told The Telegraph he is strongly considering pulling the United States out of Nato after it failed to join his war on Iran. Wow...

@Osint613 Israeli talking points. Let’s see how this works out for him. England said it never happened. NATO said it never happened. Iran said it never happened. Are they all liars?

Marco Rubio on Iran: Araghchi is a liar. This guy was on television… denying that Iran had any missiles beyond a certain range, and then they fired two of them.

@PoliUnLimited @Osint613 @SirKrispyiii That’s fair. I do have to cook dinner. While I don’t think I’ll get my 3 hours back, this has been fun. Whilst I can’t remember how this started it’s been interesting exchanging thoughts with someone that thinks. I hope you find some open minded lefties.

@PoliUnLimited @Osint613 @SirKrispyiii What’s wrong with left thinking? The difference between right and left from my perspective is. Right: Are capitalistic, nationalistic faith based thinkers. Left: Are open minded, critical thinking, rules based global thinkers. Trump($6B) adores Putin($300+B).

@AliG7Entropy @Osint613 @SirKrispyiii Mostly right - though there are racists on all sides over here. I'm a constitutional conservative - so for me it's not about faith or any of that, it's about protecting our rights.

This didn’t affect war fighting capability at all. It’s a financial loss. One the U.S. will absorb. The IRGC is a different story entirely. They opened with 170 missiles on Israel per day. Today they’re down to 3. Their entire military complex has been nearly destroyed. We are 4 weeks in, and the U.S. says it still needs 2-3 weeks in Iran.

@PoliUnLimited @Osint613 @SirKrispyiii Thanks. I’m Australian so I don’t have to side with the right. We don’t have individual liberty to worry about. To be honest, the right here are usually greedy, self obsorbed racists. It seems somewhat different from where you are.

The knesset doesn't threaten nuclear warfare - israel has always had a position of not confirming either way whether they have nukes. They might have hinted that they would use them but not the same thing. Perhaps you're right that Israel stole them. I thought the US gave it to them but who knows.

Trump doesn't adore Putin. Respects him maybe. The left are not very open minded. Perhaps you are, but it's rare to even be able to have a discussion with leftists in general. Leftist ideology is not at all open minded. Disagree and be cancelled, called a racist, etc. Leftism is based in tyranny. Meanwhile, capitalism is the worst system out there, with the exception of every other system that's been tried. Some on the right are faith based. For me and many others, it's about supporting the American constitution of limited government and the concept of individual liberties - the left could care less about individual liberty and things the government should fix every problem.

@PoliUnLimited @Osint613 @SirKrispyiii Interesting. You see I wouldn’t say left is socialism and right is capitalism absolutely but they can both have leanings in either direction. I also think that some that would identify either right or left actually are not what they think.

@AliG7Entropy @GeorgeSmith_Jr @Osint613 @SirKrispyiii Israel already has nukes. We gave it to them decades ago, and they've not only not threatened to use them but claim they don't even have them - much different than Iran. I'm not going to debate the obvious good that was done by dropping those two nukes on Japan.
