People fleeing violence, war, and persecution deserve to be treated with compassion, not cruelty. This week’s Conservative proposal to deny health care to some of the world’s most vulnerable is offensive in the extreme.

@LukaszukAB Its uncanadian and deplorable to suggest that immigrants are only "serving timmies". What a disgusting thing to say.

Immigrants are not Alberta’s problem. They’re here legally. They’re the ones serving you coffee at Timmies. Populist governments need a scapegoat, an “out-group”. For Hitler it was Jews, for Trump it’s Latinos. It’s an un-Canadian and deplorable political strategy. #ableg

No independence referendum, at least not this year. That's what this means. An independence referendum cannot be effectively held at the same time as the referendum she has just announced. It would make the independence question not "a clear question" (as stipulated in the SCC reference case and the federal Clarity Act). The independence question needs to be the only question on the ballot, so that every voter is clear that the vote is about staying or going. All these other questions would obscure that. It's a gambit to take the steam out of the independence drive.

@MrJoKeR604 This is such a childish post. Independence is about their homes and futures. not about who they get to cheer for every four years.

@BertaBSDetector Non Albertans expecting things should stay status quo is peak tax leqch hypocrisy. Pretty sure AB would want to self fund the same systems already in place. The whole point is to decouple from canada..

@_mrg_1 @Jason___YYC Agreed. Its unfortunate its come this far but AB is frustrated and with little leverage on Ottawa. My personal thoughts are the system doesn't work regardless. What amazes me is all the hate. We know AB is at this point and no one's tried to reason, or address the issues.

@AllAlbertaView @Jason___YYC Referendums are destructive & signal instability. It hurts the economy & delay projects. They divide by nature. Current agitators sell dreams & say it is binding & they can be independent & tax-free by this time next year. You can put pressure on MLAs for the same outcomes

Alberta Secession - Why?
Alberta Secession - Why?@cnm5000·
Here are 10 concrete actions the federal government could easily and quickly take to try and convince Alberta separatists to stay: 1. Permanently scrap the industrial carbon pricing regime. 2. Repeal Bill C-69 (the “no new pipelines” law) and fast-track approval of all pending energy export projects. 3. End the West Coast tanker ban (Bill C-48) and allow unrestricted crude-by-rail and marine exports. 4. Overhaul or eliminate the equalization program so Alberta is no longer a permanent net contributor subsidizing other provinces. 5. Recognize Alberta’s exclusive jurisdiction over natural resources and commit to never again imposing federal environmental assessments on provincial projects. 6. Provide Alberta with immigration powers equal to Quebec’s, including full control over economic class selection. 7. Exempt Alberta from any future federal firearms restrictions and delegate gun laws to provincial authority. 8. Deliver a fair-share deal on infrastructure funding that reflects Alberta’s historic tax contributions, without strings attached to net-zero conditions. 9. Establish binding fiscal rules that prevent chronic, growing federal deficits, mostly funded by Alberta’s resource wealth. 10. Offer a formal constitutional amendment granting Alberta (and any other willing province) the same special powers and opt-outs Quebec currently enjoys.

@SpuddyMcKenzie Like honestly wtf is this anyway? Ooooh that cuts deep 😱. People are worried about their futures and homes, not your favorite figure skater. Children, sticking their noses into adult matters they dont understand.

Of course I don’t speak for everyone supporting AB Independence BUT I’m pretty sure everyone wishes it wouldn’t have come to this. We were all loyal patriots to 🇨🇦. Turdeau gutted that loyalty in so many ways, tearing the country apart. If u want to call anyone a traitor it’s him

@_mrg_1 @Jason___YYC Agreed. my numbers may not be exact. Now ill go a step further. The loudest voices in referendum say separate, but their ideas are their own. Signing or voting yes could simply be for such renegotiation. That's why we need all albertans to participate.

@AllAlbertaView @Jason___YYC I can’t get to the same results as you but I accept the general idea - and the proper way to deal with this, is to renegotiate the formula, it destroyed life for 40mm people. It was done last time under Harper
