The Coast Guard on Thursday rescued five people in waters around Alaska's remote Aleutian Islands. A good Samaritan vessel relayed communications between a fishing vessel taking on water and the service’s Arctic command center in Juneau.

Combat Search and Rescue is perilous by definition no matter the situation. Executing a recovery deep within Iranian airspace in broad daylight is an entirely different level of risk. With assets operating low and slow, taking fire was a certainty. Regardless, CSAR remains a non-negotiable moral obligation and a sacred promise to every airman.
