@lauriewired I see why people in the comments are saying it’s not compression, it’s a glorified lookup. But I agree with OP. It’s an interesting thought experiment to consider what outside the box uses could exist for the tokenization algos, and also querying LLM corpus

This text is the entire first chapter of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, compressed down to 8% of it's original size. Zip, brotli, and other compression algorithms top out at about 35-50%. How? By assuming that (large) LLM's likely have many popular works encoded somewhere in the training. Extract the raw tokens, then store that as the compressed output. The "decompressor" is then just the same model using the raw tokens as keys to regenerate the original text. It's an interesting, although debatably useful trick.

I've been using this and it helps calm my life. Dare I say, empowering. You know I'm optimistic on generative AI, though aware of it's shortcomings. This is a great use of the technology as capable as it is today, and will improve from here

@DevinReimer @stungeye Sounds really interesting. I remember how promising early tech demos of job simulator were, and how formative that product has been since it’s release. I expect what you’re working on now will be also setting the bar high.

@OpenAI 4 weeks ago I tried to integrate custom knowledge bases with fine tuning. 3 weeks ago it was drinkwater.ai. 2 weeks ago it was gpt_index/llama. This week is plug-ins. So much to keep up! But you love to see it

We are adding support for plugins to ChatGPT — extensions which integrate it with third-party services or allow it to access up-to-date information. We’re starting small to study real-world use, impact, and safety and alignment challenges: openai.com/blog/chatgpt-p…

@nonrecursive @plexus I believe you can do it! Since that fateful day I began to learn Clojure I’ve always said it’s the easiest to learn of any I know. I bet the nay sayers are people who have to unlearn OOP/imperative first before they can grok functional.

Last year, @plexus and I gave a talk at ClojureD where we posed the question, what if Clojure were *the most* beginner-friendly language on the planet? I think we can make that happen. I want to make that happen in 2023. Stay tuned 😊

This year, I'm continuing to invest in improving Clojure's beginner experience. Broadly, this is taking the form of helping newcomers become productive, and in helping them get hired. There are a couple projects in the works that I think could have a HUGE impact 🚀

I've written a tutorial on using Babashka and would love to get feedback on it. If you've been wanting to use it but haven't taken the plunge, I could use your eyes to figure out what's missing or confusing or incorrect. DM me if you're interested!

It just occurred to me: If you haven't learned how to write that AI app idea you came up with, no problem. Ask GPT-3 to provide the code for parts you don't understand.
